The UK’s Environmental Transport Association (ETA) has voted Opel’s Tigra two-door convertible as the greenest vehicle in the sports category.

ETA looks at some 1,300 models of cars currently on sale in the UK and examines their power, emissions, fuel efficiency and the amount of noise they produce to create the definitive guide to buying the greenest vehicle. ETA’s publication, The Car Buyers’ guide, was first published in 1992 and has since become the environmental benchmark for the car industry and the public, championing the greenest cars in the UK.

The winning feature of the diesel Opel Tigra 1.3CDTi 16v is its low fuel consumption at 4.6 l/100 km (combined) which keeps CO2 emissions down at 124 g/km.

“Consumers today are becoming increasingly conscious of the environment and the price they have to pay for unsustainable products. Opel Tigra’s low impact on the environment comes as positive news to the industry as it means that buyers looking for a stunning sports car have found one which respects nature, and their pocket, as they will not have to pay the earth for fuel and eco-related taxes,” said Ryan Buttigieg,  Sales and Marketing Manager at United Automobile Limited, representatives of Opel in Malta.

Until the 14th of August, UAL are offering a discount of up to €2,500 across the full Opel range, including the Opel Tigra.

For more information or a test-drive of the Opel Tigra, call at the UAL showroom in Abate Rigord Street, Ta` Xbiex or on 21 320560, info@unitedautomobile.com.mt.
