Dar Tal-Providenza, which is a cause close to all Maltese, received a handsome thought, to the tune of €10,000, coinciding with the launch of Forget Me Not, a new line of greeting cards and allied products in Malta.

The donation was presented to Mgr Lawrence Gatt, Director of Dar Tal-Providenza, by Malcolm Miller, CEO of Miller Distributors Limited, who have been appointed local distributors of Forget Me Not - the leading greeting card brand published by UK Greetings.

The proceeds represent an initial advance payment based on a percentage of sales made by Maltese retailers. Each donation will be acknowledged to each retailer by Dar Tal-Providenza with every order they place.

Mick Shackleton, Head of International Sales and Marketing at UK Greetings, was also present for the party celebrating the launch, which was attended by hundreds of retailers at the Phoenicia Hotel’s Pool Deck.

“We are all aware of the huge daily cost needed to run Dar Tal-Providenza and the loving attention and care given by its dedicated team. We felt it was appropriate to celebrate the launch of Forget Me Not in Malta by remembering the special people at the Home and involving the whole distribution network and finally the card buying public. By directly helping Dar Tal-Providenza with every card sold, we hope to continue to raise substantial sums,” said Emma Miller, Marketing Manager for the product range.

Dar Tal-Providenza looks after 98 permanent residents between the age of 11 and 80, and about six to eight respite users every day. The home employs 190 full-timers and 20 part-timers, supported by some 200 volunteers to provide day and night care for its residents.

“The concern shown by our friends and well-wishers is a very welcome push in the right direction,” said Mgr Gatt. “Id-Dar residents and all of us who live and work here are very thankful,”

Forget me Not is the leading Greetings Card brand of UK Greetings, a subsidiary of American Greetings Corporation, the world’s largest publicly owned publisher and manufacturer of greeting cards and associated products. With revenues exceeding $2.3 billion per annum and 21,000 employees operating in 77 countries and 24 languages this global market leader is now also actively present in Malta.
