Several talented young male and female
footballers who train with the Under 11 and Under 12 categories will take part
in the fifth edition of Emirates Airline Young Footballer Challenge to
be held in the evening on Friday 16th May 2008 at Victor Tedesco
Stadium in Hamrun.
The Challenge, which is being organised
by Arsenal Malta Supporters Club (AMSC) in collaboration with Emirates Airline
and with the support of the English Premier Football Club Arsenal FC, has
received the confirmation from 18 Youth Football Clubs in Malta.
“We have
received applications from most of the Nursery Clubs of the premier division
such as Valletta,
Birkirkara, Floriana, Sliema and Hamrun,” said Peter Paul Gauci, Event
Coordinator and Vice-President and PRO of AMSC.
“Our aim is to encourage both the talent and the spirit of sports at the
grass root level.”
On the 16th May 2008, all
chosen participants will be tested on their individual skills in dribbling,
juggling and shooting, according to the Set Minimum Standards of the Nursery
Clubs.
For this year’s
edition parents and friends of young participants are invited to attend and
watch the competition and the competitors’ training session with Arsenal FC
coaches on Friday evening. The event will commence at 6.00pm.
The junior
members of the Arsenal Supporters Club are invited to attend to a fun training
football session with the visiting Arsenal FC coaches to be held during the
same evening.
At the end of the Challenge, the competitors
will have a special training session with the two Arsenal FC coaches. Each
participant will be presented with a certificate and Emirates give-aways
followed by the presentation of Trophies, prizes and Emirates Airline Young
Footballer Challenge Shield.
