UK Deputy PM, Justice Minister discuss migration

Illegal immigration was at the focus of discussions held between United Kingdom (UK) Deputy Prime Minster John Prescott and Minister for Home Affairs and Justice Tonio Borg.

 

illegal immigrantsSpeaking during a press conference on Thursday, the Minister said that Malta and the UK are probing ways with which to collaborate in the sectors of justice and home affairs, particularly where illegal immigration is concerned.

In turn, the UK Deputy Prime Minister who is visiting Malta explained that illegal human traffic is a problem his country is facing, defining it as “slavery of the contemporary era”.

Later on in the day Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott also met Minister for Foreign Affairs Michael Fredno, as well as Prime Minster Dr. Lawrence Gonzi.
