Public consultation meetings for Budget 2008, to be presented later throughout the year, will commence in the upcoming days, said Prime Minister Dr. Lawrence Gonzi.

Speaking during a social activity organised by the Nationalist Party Women’s Movement (MNPN), the Prime Minister added that women, youths and the elderly are set to be the greatest beneficiaries of the forthcoming Budget.

Dr. Gonzi also stated that the government will continue to build on past Budgets where incentives that favour workers without introducing new taxes will be presented.

Prime Minister Dr. Lawrence Gonzi also said that the government managed to attract Lm575 million in foreign investment towards the Maltese islands in 2006.

Earlier during the year, the Prime Minister had annouced that the consultation document for Budget 2008 is planned to be finalized by June.
