Official delegation leaves for canonisation

A Maltese official Delegation leaves Malta on Saturday to attend the canonisation of Blessed Dun Ġorġ Preca at The Vatican.     

The delegation will be led by President Dr Edward Fenech Adami and Mrs Fenech Adami and includes Prime Minister Dr Lawrence Gonzi, Mrs Gonzi, Speaker Anton Tabone, Mrs Tabone and Leader of the Opposition, Dr Alfred Sant.  

Ambassador to the Holy See, Tonio Ganado and Mrs Ganado will also be part of the official delegation.  

The President and Mrs Fenech Adami will be returning to Malta on Monday afternoon.  

In the absence of the President, Dr George Hyzler will assume office as Acting President.

Minister for Tourism and Culture Francis Zammit Dimech will be Acting Prime Minister.

Meanwhile hundreds Maltese are flocking towards the Malta International Airport (MIA) to board their flights to Rome for the canonisation ceremony. Several others have already arrived in the Italian capital city and are roaming around the Vatican and the various shrines.
