In
a visit he is paying Malta,
Tunisian Minister for Tourism Tijani Haddad met his
Maltese counterpart, Minister Francis Zammit Dimech in Valletta on Tuesday.
During
their meeting the Ministers spoke of how the two counties can strengthen tourism
in the light of recommendations set forward during the forth Maltese-Tunisian Joint Commission on Tourism
session, held last January. Among these recommendations was the promotion of
ties between the countries in the fields of yachting and cruise lining.
Minister Francis Zammit Dimech and Minister Haddad also discussed joint marketing of
the two nations for long haul tourists travelling from China, the United
States of America and India through heightened cooperation
of tour operators.
During the meeting the Maltese Minister also noted
that in the past 40 years the diplomatic relations between Malta and Tunisia gave way to enhanced
agreement between the countries’ citizens, reflecting more cooperation in
various sectors.
Minister Haddad leaves Malta on Wednesday.
Earlier on during the
day, the two Ministers also inaugurated the Tunisian Gastronomic Week which is
being held at the Corinthia
Marina Hotel.
“Gastronomy is another
way to strengthen cultural and human ties between Malta
and Tunisia,
since it encourages communication and the exchange of ideas,” remarked Minister
Zammit Dimech.
