German President on State Visit in Malta

State Dinner with German President KohlerThe President of the Federal Republic of Germany, H.E. Prof Horst Kohler and Mrs Kohler are currently on a State Visit to Malta on the invitation of the President of Malta, H.E. Dr. Edward Fenech Adami. The visit ends on Saturday afternoon.

On Friday, H.E. Prof Horst Kohler and Mrs Kohler participated in a wreath laying ceremony after calling on the President. They then proceeded to the Caraffa Stores at the Vittoriosa Marina for a presentation and exhibition of the Grand Harbour Project. This was followed by a meeting with the German community.

The evening ended with a State dinner.

Meanwhile on Saturday, Opposition Leader Dr Alfred Sant called on the German President. H.E. Prof Horst Kohler proceeded to plant a tree at San Anton Palace and he then met Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi.

On Saturday morning, the President also had scheduled a meeting with the MEDAC, (Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies).

The President of the Federal Republic of Germany and Mrs Kohler accompanied by the Prime Minister and Mrs Gonzi, will visit Upper Barrakka Gardens at around 1400 CET.

They will then visit Mdina.

H.E. Prof Horst Kohler and Mrs Kohler are expected to leave on Saturday afternoon following a farewell ceremony at MIA at 1555 CET.
