Dr Alfred Sant's medical condition has improved further, Prof Anthony Zammit said in a release on Saturday.
The statement also said that on Saturday, some of Dr Sant’s drains were removed and with the help of physiotherapists’ he also got out of bed and walked in the ward’s corridors at Mater Dei.
Further updates on Dr Alfred Sant’s health will be communicated in the coming days.
Meanwhile earlier this week in a press release, MLP general secretary Jason Micallef said that speculations about Dr Sant's health are excessive and unneccessary. Any information will only be issued through Professor Zammit's statements in the coming days, he said.
Mr Micallef thanked all those who expressed their solidarity towards the Opposition leader. He also appealed for prudence and respect.
