On the morning of the fourteenth day of the electoral campaign, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi met supporters for a dialogue in Birkirakara to whom he stated that the Malta Labour Party had not changed its negative mentality and that it showed lack of confidence in the Maltese.

PM BkaraHe said that he is confident that that the Maltese will vote for the right party, the party which has a vision for Malta.  “This is the time to build on what we have achieved so far,” he said.

PN’s day came to a climax with its second mass meeting in this electoral campaign, held in Zabbar. In his address Dr Gonzi said that “The party does not need to start afresh…because only a failed party needs to start afresh.”

At the meeting, he urged his supporters to judge his party on its record and on what the party is proposing and not on what is said.

Sunday morning for Opposition and Malta Labour Party Leader Dr Alfred Sant started with a TV interview on One TV during which he insisted on discipline, accountability and transparency in a future Labour administration.

Dr Sant said that Labour’s proposal to halve the surcharge will positively affect families who are at present struggling to cope. Dr Sant also mentioned that his party has plans to invest in alternative energy if elected.

MLP mass meetingAt a mass meeting in Mosta, the MLP leader said that his party’s proposals focus on improved quality of life and will surely boost the economy. He accused PM Gonzi of being unable to attract new foreign investments especially from countries like China, Russia and India and said that a Labour administration would create 6,000 new jobs.

Echoing Dr Sant, Deputy Leader Dr Michael Falzon said that it is the Labour party which offers “real protection for the family.”

“For us it is the most natural thing to speak of social justice.[…] You are the lions of change.” he told those present.

At a press conference in Iklin, Chairperson of Alternattiva Demokratika - The Green Party Dr Harry Vassallo,  spoke of illegal extensions to development boundaries saying that both PN and MLP prefer status quo on the issue.

Dr Vassallo expressed the solidarity of Alternattiva Demokratika with residents all over Malta and Gozo, including those of Attard, Iklin, Swieqi, Mellieha, Birzebbuga and many others who are objecting to the extension of planning boundaries.
