Close to 98% of registered voters collected their voting documents up to Thursday’s midnight deadline whilst 5,266 voting documents remained uncollected.
Official figures published on Friday afternoon by the Electoral Commission show that the 12th district composed of Mellieha, St. Paul’s Bay and Naxxar has the highest number of uncollected voting documents: 996. This was followed by the 10th district with 662 votes and the 13th district with 586. In the other districts the average of uncollected voting documents stood at 300.
315, 357 were registered to vote. 1075 voting documents were withheld by the Electoral Commission while 5,266 remained uncollected. Thus, a total of 309,016 voters can now cast their preferences for general elections between Friday and Saturday night. This shows an increase in the number of eligible voters compared to the 2003 elections where the figure stood at 294,106 with 2,377 voting documents that had remained uncollected.

In turn, the number of uncollected voting documents for the local elections totalled 6,825 so that 92.7 % of registered voters can now vote.
