Marie Louise Coleiro PrecaThe first candidate to be elected in the 2008 general elections is Malta Labour Candidate Marie Louise Coleiro Preca.

She attributed her success to a group effort with her canvassers claiming it was the effect of International Women’s day.

Ms Coleiro Preca got 5940 first count votes on the 6th district. This reflects  an increase of 1051 from the 2003 Election.

All Vodafone customers who send a blank SMS to 50902008 will receive SMS updates with breaking news on the general elections. Customers may also send an SMS with the district number to 50902008 to receive specific information about the selected district. SMS updates are available to both prepaid and post paid customers. Each SMS costs €0.12 (Lm0.05).
