PM to be sworn in at 4pm; 4 extra seats for PN

Dr Lawrence Gonzi is to be sworn in as Prime Minister at 1600 CET according to an official announcement. Following the ceremony at the President’s Palace, he will go his office at Castille and, at 1800 CET address a Nationalist Party mass meeting.  

Meanwhile, with the counting ending at 1230 CET on Tuesday, the Nationalist Party will be given 4 extra seats to enable it to have a Parliamentary majority. These seats will be awarded to the runners up on the Nationalist ticket.

The best runners up are the following: Jean-Pierre Farrugia, with 3,426 votes in 1st district; Edwin Vassallo, 3,301 votes in 11th district; Frans Agius, with 3,259 votes in the 2nd district and Francis Zammit-Dimech, with 3,197 votes in the 10th district.
