More than a thousand fake passports, including some for Malta, have been seized in one of the biggest anti-counterfeiting operations in recent years in Thailand, according to reuters.

A man, Mohammed Karim, 56 from Bangladesh, was arrested in connection with the find and is being accused of systematically producing fake passports and documents with police seizing two computers, a scanner, three printers and rubber stamps for several countries.

Besides Malta, the seized passports were also for countries like the United States, New Zealand, France, Japan, Singapore and Malaysia.

It is believed these documents were then sold to middlemen who sold them to gangs engaged in prostitution, terrorism and smuggling, Reuters reported.
