Dr Charles Mangion sworn in as Opposition Leader

Dr Charles Mangion, who has been Acting Leader of the Malta Labour Party since Dr Alfred Sant announced his resignation on March 10th was sworn in as Leader of the Opposition in a brief ceremony on Thursday evening.

Dr Sant had submitted his resignation to president Edward Fenech Adami earlier this week. Dr Mangion is expected to serve as leader of the Opposition until a new party leader is elected and takes his seat in Parliament.
 
In the meantime voting for the election of a new leader for the Malta Labour party has commenced at the party’s national headquarters in Hamrun.  The voting which was opened at 1830CET is expected to close at 2000CET.
