On Monday afternoon, party leaders Lawrence Gonzi and Joseph Muscat have held an official meeting for the first time since the latter’s appointment on Friday evening. The meeting was held at the PN headquarters in Pieta’.

Prime Minister Gonzi told Muscat that he appreciated the fact that he was taking on this huge responsibility to lead the Labour Party.

Dr Gonzi also paid tribute to the useful work of Muscat's predecessor, Dr Alfred Sant and thanked him for the years of service to the country.

In turn, Dr Muscat thanked PM Gonzi for the invitation of the visit and said that he does not believe in personal attacks. Instead, he wants to conduct clean politics characterised by mutual respect.

Dr Muscat also revealed that a code of ethics for the MLP media will soon be published so that journalists would be guided into how they should conduct themselves.

Finally, Dr Gonzi said that Dr Muscat will be officially invited for the opening of the new PN headquarters in the coming weeks.
