Elections for MLP deputy leaders go to round two

Elections for the appointment of the new deputy leaders of the Labour Party will go to the second round on Friday evening after none of the seven contestants managed to obtain 50% of the votes plus one.

Angelo Farrugia and Chris Cardona will be contesting the runoff for deputy leader parliamentary affairs after they got 409 votes (48%) and 245 votes (29%) respectively. Another contestant, Carmelo Abela got 190  of the delegates’ votes (22.5%).
 
The runoff for deputy leader for party affairs will be contested between Toni Abela who obtained 390 votes (46.2%) and Gavin Gulia who managed to get 295 votes (35%). Contestants Joe Mifsud and Clyde Joe Cassar got 149 votes and 10 votes respectively.
