Moviment Graffitti has welcomed the decision by the director of Ejjew G©¤andi Children's Homes, Mgr Victor Zammit McKeon, to stop accepting donations from Mr and Mrs Angelo Xuereb.

This decision came soon after he got to know of a billboard by Azzjoni Nazzjonali that featured an image of Mr Xuereb promising that the Balzan open centre for refugees would be closed if he were elected in the coming elections.

In a statement, Moviment Graffiti called Azzjoni Nazzjonali a far-right party and the billboard in question as carrying a ¡°xenophobic slogan with racist connotations¡±.

Graffiti said that with this decision the organisation Ejjew G©¤andi is showing what principles based on solidarity and social justice really mean. ¡°We hope that everyone will have the courage to condemn this behaviour from the far-right, so as to prevent racism and fascism from raising their ugly heads in our country.¡± The statement concluded.

The organization Ejjew G©¤andi currently runs five child day care centres, mostly for children with problem backgrounds and assisting families living below the poverty line.

AN has repeatedly insisted that it is not a racist party but is against illegality and its  repercussions in Maltese society.
