The cabinet of ministers has decided that the first session of Parliament following the general elections will be held either on the 3rd of May or the following Saturday on the 10th of May. A final decision will be taken in the near future.

Deputy Prime Minister Tonio Borg was quoted by portal maltarightnow.com to have said that the President of the Republic will address the Parliament when it resumes. This speech will then be debated in the following days.

Dr Borg also said that draft laws that had been presented to Parliament before the elections but were not yet ratified, will have to be presented once again for discussion.

The President’s writ for the casual elections due to be held for the remaining seats in Parliament was published on Friday in the Government Gazette. Six seats for each of the MLP and PN will be elected to fill those seats vacated by deputies elected from two districts.

The Electoral Commission is yet to decide when the casual elections will take place.
