68% turnout by the closing of polling booths

The Electoral Commission has revealed that the approximative average percentage turnout within the 22 local councils running for the 2007 elections was 68%.

This means that the persons who cast their vote went down by 14% from the 82% registered by the closing of the polling booths three years ago, when the elections were held simultaneously with those for the selection of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs).

The highest turnout was registered in Safi at 86%, while the lowest were in Swieqi and Zebbug, Gozo, at 53% and 59% respectively.

The approximate average turnout at 1300 CET was that of 30%.

Polling stations closed at 1900 CET. This is the breakdown of all localities:
