The police are holding five men under arrest after a considerable amount of heroin and cocaine was found in an apartment in Qawra on Wednesday.
The arrest was made after it had been established that drug trafficking was taking place at the apartment throughout a number of days.
The heroin, cocaine and other drug-related objects were found in an internal shaft.
The age of the five arrested men varies between 21 and 32 years. They hail from Qawra, Mosta, St Pauls Bay and Rabat, Malta.
The men will be arraigned in court in the coming days. One of them will be charged with drug trafficking.
Magistrate Dr Edwina Grima was informed about the case.
Meanwhile on Thursday the police were informed that a 32-year-old man, who was probably dead, was in Triq is-Sorijiet in Rahal Gdid. Once on site, the police in fact confirmed that the man was dead.
Magistrate Dr Doreen Calrke was informed of the case and appointed various experts to help her in the inquiry.
Three persons are helping the police with the investigations. An autopsy will be held on the corpse on Saturday morning.
