Just under 29,000 ecstasy pills were seized by Police on Tuesday afternoon in a Qawra apartment. The find is being considered as the largest one of its kind ever made in Malta.

A 32-year old man from Mosta and an 18-year-old woman from Rabat have been detained in relation to the find. In a statement on Wednesday, Police said that after weeks of investigations it was established that a large quantity of ecstasy pills was brought into Malta and was being stored in an apartment in Qawra.

Searches in the apartment yielded 29,000 pills, packed in plastic bags for the purpose of trafficking.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera was informed of the case and appointed various experts to assist in an inquiry. Police investigations are underway.

A number of persons could be arraigned in court in relation to the case in the upcoming days.
