The Mobile Squad Police managed to foil two robberies on Sunday, one from a private residence in Naxxar and the other from an I.T. and electronics shop in Mosta.

In the Naxxar case, it was at around 15:30CET when the Police went on site and managed to catch the robbers red-handed. The house is situated in Triq San Gorg, Naxxar in the local cemetery area.

The robbers thought the residence was vacant of its owners at the time. However, it turned out there was someone in the house who called the police in time.

The thieves were arrested after the Police shot in the air as a warning. A car registered under the name of one of the thieves was found in the area which was probably going to be used for the escape.

Investigations are underway.

In a separate case, the police foiled another robbery from an I.T. and electronics shop in Mosta whereby an unknown person broke the glass door to enter the shop.

The Police were informed in time but are still looking for persons in connection with the case. A stolen transit van which was going to be used to carry the stolen items was discovered by the Police. The Police Forensic section went on site to retrieve finger prints.

Further investigations by the police are being carried out.

In turn, last week an 18-year-old woman from Tarxien has alleged that she was held up in a subway in Regional Road, Msida.
