Man found dead in van below Selmun cliffs

A man was found dead in a van which is believed to have been pushed off cliffs in Selmun by a number of aggressors between Sunday night and Monday morning. The van plunged one and a half storeys to rocky terrain below. The man, a resident of Ħamrun, is 29 years old and of Syrian nationality.

Addressing a press conference Police said that the victim also appeared to have been wounded in the head. The man’s body was brought to the top of the cliff on Monday afternoon, after a caller informed Police of the van’s presence at around 1140CEST.

Some media reports have said that Police are also investigating blood found in the surroundings and are attempting to establish whether it belongs to the victim or his aggressors.

Duty Magistrate Dr. Edwina Grima was informed of the case and appointed various experts to assist in an inquiry.  

Further Police investigations are currently underway.
