A 21-year-old
woman was arraigned in Court on Monday at 1130CEST and accused of seriously
injuring and attempting to murder her 55-year-old father with a knife during an argument. Analise Galea, a mother of two children,
was not granted bail and remains detained at Corradino Corrective Facility.
Ms Galea pleaded not guilty and said she acted in self-defence.
The incident took
place early on
Sunday morning in the family’s residence in Ta’ Paris,
Birkirkara, where the young woman returned after finishing from work.
Victim Paul Galea, who was in a critical condition for a number of hours
after the incident, is no longer on danger list said a Police statement.
Police were
informed of the case at 0300CEST on Sunday.
Magistrate Doreen Clarke presided over the Court.
The prosecution was led by Inspector Kevin
Farrugia.
