18-year-old in court over Paceville shooting

18-year-old Luqa youth, David Jonathan Spiteri was arraigned in court on Saturday afternoon in connection with Friday's shooting in Paceville. The youth was not granted bail and is being held at the Corradino Correctional Facility.

In the incident, a 28-year-old man was shot in the side in St George’s Street, Paceville at around 0600 CET. The victim, Mark Debono from Zurrieq, was rushed to St Luke’s Hospital where he was certified to be in a stable condition of health.

Amongst other charges Mr Spiteri was accused of shooting in a residential area and of carrying a firearm without the necessary Police licence.

Magistrate Dr. Micallef Trigona presided over the court.
