Lotto receiver held up; man injured in break-in

A lotto receiver was held up on Tuesday at around 11:30CEST in Dun Karm Street, Birkirkara Bypass. Police preliminary investigations revealed that an armed man armed with a firearm held the lotto receiver at gunpoint and requested cash money. The thief fled from the crime scene.

No one was injured in this hold up.

Duty Magistrate Dr L. Quintano was informed of the case and several experts were appointed to assist in the inquiry. The Police are investigating.

In a separate case, an 87 year old man was seriously injured when he suffered a break-in by two hooded thieves at his home in Patri G. Spiteri Fremond Street in Qormi.

The two thieves committed the crime on Tuesday morning at approximately 0145CEST. The man, who is now still under medical care, was held while an disclosed sum of money was taken from his home. The thieves took the money and fled the scene.

Duty Magistrate Dr. Consuelo Scerri Herrera was informed about the case and appointed various experts to aid in the enquiry.
