Drug Squad detain foreigner for heroin possession

The Drug Squad is holding a foreigner from Guinea, Bissau after he was found in possession of 500 grammes of heroin.

The 40-year-old man had just arrived from Milan Malpensa.

A search on the man and his luggage did not yield anything. However due to suspects, the foreigner was escorted to Mater Dei Hospital. It emerged that the man had swallowed fifty capsules containing the half kilo of heroin.

Magistrate Dr Joseph Apap Bologna appointed various experts to ahid him in the inquiry.

Police investigations continue.

Meanwhile on Saturday, a Maltese and a Liberian were arraigned in court on drug charges. The two were found in possession of a kilogramme of heroin and cocaine in Bugibba on Thursday afternoon. Read more.
