Man apprehended on Gozo ferry after burglary

A Kalkara man was apprehended on board the Gozo ferry on Thursday after he was identified as the suspected burglar of an incident committed earlier in Rabat Gozo.

It is believed, Rodney Vella, 28, was on the run after he broke into a shop in Fortunato Mizzi street in Rabat and stole some €3000. As he made his escape he was spotted by a passer-by who notified the police.  

Officers caught up with Mr Vella on the Gozo ferry and arrested him as he was crossing the channel back to Malta.

The 28 year-old was arraigned in court on Friday morning charged with burglary.

He war released on a personal guarantee of  €2000.

Superintendent Antonello Grech led the prosecution.
