Relapser gets one year imprisonment for assault

Alfio Attard, 44, from Santa Venera was found guilty of assaulting and threatening another man with a knife. On Friday morning, he was consequently handed down a one year imprisonment sentence and fined €200.
The case goes back to July 10, 2006 when Mr Attard punched another man in the face and threatened him with a knife in a bocci club.
Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera took into consideration that the accused, Alfio Attard of Sta Venera, was a relapser and has six previous convictions.
Inspector Therese Sciberras prosecuted.
