Young man gets five years jail for trafficking ecstasy

A 19-year-old youth who admitted to trafficking 135 ecstasy pills was sentenced for five months imprisonment and fined €931.75 on Wednesday morning. Secondly, the man also pleaded guilty to the possession of drugs which were not for personal use and thirdly, he also admitted to possessing cocaine for personal use.

The accused’s name is not being published by court order.  

Before handing down judgment, Magistrate Miriam Hayman took into consideration a report from his probation officer which said that the man had made positive progress in confronting his drug addiction.

Police inspector Pierre Grech prosecuted. Dr Jason Azzoaprdi and Dr Kris Busietta appeared for the defendant whilst Magistrate Miriam Hayman presided over the Court.
