Elderly mother of six dies tragically in bedroom fire

Pina Callus, a 72-year old woman from Luqa, died tragically at her residence after her bedroom caught fire. It is believed the woman was bed-ridden.

The incident happened in an alley in Carmel Street, Luqa, at around 1230CET. Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman was alone in the house at the time of the fire.

The victim is a mother of six who lives with two of her adult sons.
 
A magisterial inquiry and police investigations are under way.
