A 19-year-old woman from Sta Lucija is in danger of losing her life after being involved in a car crash on Monday night.

The accident happened at around 2315CET on Aldo Moro Road, Marsa when the driver of the car, a Ford Ka, hit the kerb and lost control of the car. The injured woman was riding in the passenger seat at the time of the accident.

Members of the Civil Protection Department were called on site and helped in taking the couple out of the vehicle.

They were then rushed to Mater Dei Hospital where the young woman was found to be in danger of losing her life. The driver suffered less serious injuries but was still hospitalised.

Magistrate Audrey Demicoli is heading an inquiry.
