Right-wing champion and leader of Imperium Europa, Norman Lowell has been given a two-year jail term suspended for four years.

Lowell was convicted of three charges of racial hatred and one charge of insulting the President of Malta for cases occurring between 2003 and 2006.

He was also fined €500 by Magistrate Consuelo Scerri-Herrera.

Lowell recently contested the Malta general elections on the 11th and 12th district but failed to be elected. He had previously contested the June 2004 elections for the European Parliament where he had obtained 1,603 votes.
