39-year-old Nazzareno Muscat,of Zejtun, has been jailed for 10 and a half years and fined €25,000 after pleading guilty to charges of conspiracy to traffic and possession of cannabis. Muscat had admitted the charges just prior to the trial.

A second man involved in the same case, Clayton Galea, 24, of Hamrun, is however still pleading not guilty and is facing a trial by jury.

The case goes back to July 2004.

Galea’s trial is being presided by Mr Justice Joseph Galea Debono.
