Man critical after escape attempt from Police Depot

A 38-year-old Fgura man has sustained life-threatening injuries after trying to escape from the Police Depot in Floriana where he was being interrogated.

The incident happened on Wednesday evening after the man managed to escape from an officer who was escorting him and jumped over a wall behind the police headquarters where there is a trade school.

The man was given first aid on site and then rushed to Materi Dei hospital in an ambulance where he was found to be in danger of losing his life, the police said. 
It was also revealed that in his escape attempt he suffered serious fractures to his ribs.

District magistrate A Vella was informed of the case.
