Man critical after explosion and fire on boat

Brian Felder, 58, of British nationality and who resides in Valletta, is in danger of losing his life after suffering serious burn wounds in an incident in Valletta on Monday afternoon.
The man was on a catamaran in Marsamxett, close to the waterpolo pitch, when there was an explosion on his boat followed by a fierce blaze. The wreck eventually sunk.
Felder jumped into the sea and was rescued by another boat, but by the time he was taken to Mater Dei Hospital his condition was critical, the police said.
The AFM and the Civil Protection Department were on site with their boats to offer assistance whilst a fire engine waited on shore.
