Police detain 13 persons in all on drugs

A Somali man was arrested on Saturday at the Malta International Airport after around 10kg Khat drug was found in his luggage. The man was flying to Malta from London, the police said.

Duty Magistrate Dr Michael Mallia was informed of the case and several experts were appointed to assist in the inquiry.

Further police investigations are underway.

Also, 7 men and 3 women were arrested by the Police during the early hours of Saturday. The persons were found in possession of ecstasy and cannabis during a party at Paceville. Their ages vary between 16 and 28 years.

The police said that another two men, aged 19 and 30, were arrested on Friday at Pieta also found in drug possession. The drug appeared to be intended for trafficking.
