A man reported missing by a Greek vessel was found 165 miles off Malta by a Maltese vessel.

In a press statement on Sunday, the Armed Forces of Malta said that the man is refusing to return to his ship saying that his life had been threatened.

Early Saturday morning, the Greek registered vessel Anglia P informed the AFM's Operations' Centre that it had a man overboard in an area 88.95 nautical miles north east of Malta.

The AFM co-ordinated a search with fourteen vessels that ended at 1600CEST when the Maltese-registered MV Port Estoril reported that a 36 year old man with a Philippines passport was located 165 nautical miles away from Malta.

The captain of the Port Estoril told the AFM that the man was refusing to return to the Anglia P due to threats to his life.
