Russian agents of the Federal Security Corps have seized 21 kilogrammes of cocaine from a ship carrying the Maltese flag, according to the Customs’ Authorities of the Baltic Sea. This was reported in the online newspaper www.eluniverso.com.

The ship, which had left from  Guayaquil in Ecuador, was intercepted as it berthed in the harbour at Saint Petersburg. The cocaine was found in the cabin of one of the crew members who, it is believed, was simply acting as a carrier of the drug.

The drug was found in 21 packets sealed in tape, www.eluniverso.com said.
