Contravention notices have been presented to the law courts today by the Squad against Economic Crimes of the police, including one against George Micallef after investigations in the granting of development permits for an open air entertainment area in Mistra.

Micallef, 48, from St Julian’s is being accused of giving false declarations and other crimes related to the planning of the development in Mistra.

This brings the case of parliamentarian Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando, owner of the land in Mistra, back into the limelight. It is also set to rekindle the debate on his personal integrity and his place within the Nationalist Party as PM Gonzi had pledged to "let those who are found to have acted incorrectly to get what they deserve."

Other contravention notices were presented against Philip Azzoppardi, 57 from Naxxar, and Anthony Mifsud, 59 from Birzebbugia.
