109 immigrants brought ashore in just one night

83 illegal immigrants were brought ashore by the Armed Forces of Malta in the early hours of Monday morning the police said in a statement. Another  26 immigrants landed in Wied iz-Zurrieq at around 0700CET.

The first groups of immigrants, consisting of 76 men, 6 women and a boy, were escorted to Hay Wharf in Pieta’ at around 0100CET.

Later on, the police were also notified of another boat berthing in Wied iz-Zurrieq and on further investigation it was revealed that 26 men in good health had landed there.

Further investigations are underway.
