Luqa man arraigned over hospital bomb threat

26-year-old Carmel Camilleri from Luqa was arraigned in Court on Saturday at around 1200CEST in relation to bomb threats received by the police earlier this week.

On Wednesday morning, the police received an anonymous phone call made by a male who said that bombs would explode at St Luke's Hospital and the Law Courts.

Members of the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) from the bomb disposal unit arrived on the two sites soon afterwards and evacuated those present.  Following thorough searches, these yielded no hazards.

Meanwhile, a 30-year-old man from Valletta was also arraigned in Court after being cought with ten heroin packets intended for trafficking.

Neither man was granted bail and they remain detained at Kordin Corrective Facility.

After he was denied bail, Carmel Camilleri threatened the prosecution and was fined Lm 100.
