The diocesan celebration on the occasion of the Vigil of Pentecost this year will be held on Saturday, 26th May, in Tumas Fenech Street, at the back of the Basilica of St Helen in Birkirkara, from 1930CEST onwards.

The celebration will be led by Archbishop Mgr Paul Cremona and will include a Mass.  The Vigil of Prayer is being considered as an occasion for the spiritual preparation of the faithful for the canonisation of Dun Ġorġ Preca.

The solemnity of Pentecost is a reminder of the occasion when the Church, in its beginning, received the gift of the Holy Spirit and reached out to preach the Gospel. The Church calls on Christians to unite together, on the occasion of the Pentecost, to thank God for the continued renewal of the Church, through the Holy Spirit.   This year this is also being evidenced with the canonisation of Blessed Dun Ġorġ Preca, which will be taking place on Sunday, 3rd June.

A similar celebration is going to be held at St. George’s Square, Victoria Gozo.
