Enemalta experienced the highest electricity demand ever in it’s thirty years of operation, with the load reaching 434MW at 1300 CET on Monday, the corporation said in a statement on Tuesday.

This is 16MW higher than the peak load of 418MW recorded on the 26th June 2007 and 30MW higher than the 404MW peak reached in 2006.

In a comment Enemalta Chairman Ing. Alexander J. Tranter said that despite the high temperatures and demand the system is coping well.  He reassured the public that there is enough spare capacity to cope with all the demand for electricity.
