The first public services at new hospital
were given on Tuesday morning, as nine expectant mothers attended their third Parent
Craft Course session at Mater Dei’s Outpatients ward.
The course’s two other sessions were held
at St Luke’s Hospital in the recent weeks.
Soon all Parent Craft lectures will start
taking place at Mater Dei.
Additionally, in
the days to come, clinical psychologists will also start seeing their patients
at Mater Dei, while another four outpatient areas are expected to migrate from
St Luke's Hospital to the new hospital in Tal-Qroqq later this month.
The migration
process started two weeks ago with administrative and managerial offices being
transported first in the four-phase move. Wards are expected to migrate
to the new hospital around the end of August and the beginning of September.
The hospital, inaugurated on the 29th June, is expected to be fully
functional by the end of the year.
