A Bulgarian man, 29, has died from the injuries sustained after being blown away by the strong wind while kite surfing at Armier, near the White Tower, on Sunday afternoon.

The police said the man, who lives in Malta, was preparing to take off when his kite was blown away by a sudden gust of wind. He first ended up against a tree and then a roof made of sheet metal.

An ambulance was called and took the man to hospital where he was certified as being in danger of dying. He died a few hours later.

Duty Magistrate Anthony Quintano ordered an inquiry. The police are investigating.
