A man was found dead in the shaft of a residence in Independence Avenue, Zurrieq, on Monday evening.

The police said the alarm was raised at around 1830 CET.

The man, a 37-year-old Syrian, fell down while working on an adjoining construction site.

This is the second foreigner to die by accident in 24 hours, after a Bulgarian died on Sunday after sustaining heavy injuries while kite surfing at Armier.

On Saturday night a Maltese man died under the rubble of the collapsed roof of his Sliema residence.

In the meantime a 74-year old man is fighting for his life following a traffic accident in Siggiewi on Monday afternoon.
