Lm600,296 donated during L-Istrina

Lm600,296 were donated during Saturday’s L-Istrina. This surpasses last year’s sum of Lm492,786 by more than Lm100,000. L-Istrina 2007, which was held at the MFCC in Ta`Qali and transmitted live on the three main TV stations, was watched by many who remained indoors due to the constant heavy rains.
Starting at noon, LM353,203. were raised by around 2000CET.
Several distinct personalities made their way to the MFCC to give their donation and voice out their appeal for the Maltese and Gozitans to join in solidarity for a good cause and donate.
Politicians and members of Parliament present at MFCC answered the incoming calls, as the presenters Peppi Azzopardi and Valerie Vella kept giving out gifts, vouchers and trolleys to all people who made their donations.
His Excellency the President of Malta Dr Edward Fenech Adami visited once again the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre (MFCC) at around 1830CET and commented that this year’s campaign is progressing positively and has gained a strong momentum.
Earlier, Archbishop Paul Cremona also visited the MFCC. He appealed everyone watching to donate money and also urged everyone to take part in voluntary organisations.
KIA cars were given out. Winning the last car of the night was an 80-year-old woman who showed her gratitude by donating a further Lm300 to L-Istrina.
