On Monday morning, Moviment Mid-Dlam Ghad-Dawl  together with Moviment Graffiti got together to demonstrate in front of the law courts.  The aim of their protest was to express disapproval of recent cases where young people were kept in an institutional detention environment following court orders.

They gathered in front of the courts to show their support of the rights of children and young people, said Fr Mark Montebello, director of Mid-Dlam Ghad-Dawl.

In January 2008, a 13-year-old girl was jailed for some days and a 12-year-old boy was remanded in custody after being arraigned. The latter is presently being held at Mr Carmel Hospital Forensic Ward because no other place can accommodate such young persons.

Graffiti and Mid-Dlam ghad-Dawl insisted that children and young people should not be locked  in prison or other detention centres.
